How to cope with allergy

On the phenomenon of allergy through the lens of Chinese medicine, and gives natural tips for self-treatment of the phenomenon and for improving the feeling.

Chinese medicine relates to allergy as a condition of imbalance in the immune system, that is, an imbalance in the organs responsible for the immune system (in the Chinese view). In contrast to Western medicine, which relates to allergy as a condition of excess activity of the immune system, a state of excess production of histamines, which trigger an allergic reaction, such as sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes and more.
Usually allergies are more prominent during the spring period; however, Chinese medicine attributes to each season the internal organs that are prominent in their activity during that period:

* The liver and the gallbladder – the spring period is attributed to the Wood element, which represents the liver and the gallbladder. The liver has many properties, among them the storage and filtering of blood, an effect on the endocrine system, on the eyes and more.

* The lungs – an important organ responsible for the respiratory system (lungs, nose, sinuses, throat), for the skin (which is also a breathing organ) and for the immune system. When the lungs are weak, the body tends to get sick frequently and diseases such as flu, runny nose, bronchitis, sinusitis and even various skin diseases tend to appear.

* The spleen – according to Chinese medicine, the spleen is responsible for the movement of fluids and various substances in the body, the digestive system, blood production, the quality of substances in the blood and fluids, the immune system and more. When the spleen does not work in balance, many different symptoms can appear, such as: phlegm, runny nose, diarrhea, various digestive problems, even anemia.

These 3 vital organs work in cooperation so that the whole body system works as it should. But sometimes one or more organs weaken and then the problems begin.
According to Chinese medicine, the spleen nourishes and strengthens the lungs; it can do this only if it is strong enough, and itself receives nourishment and support. When unhealthy foods such as fried foods, processed sugars, many dairy products and fatty food are introduced into the body, they weaken the spleen and impair its ability to work properly. This condition causes an accumulation of phlegm in the digestive system and afterward in the respiratory system. When the spleen does not nourish the lungs effectively, they weaken and the respiratory system is harmed. When the respiratory system is harmed, the immune system is also harmed.
The lungs are supposed to restrain the activity of the liver, and ensure that the liver works to the desired extent and not in excess. When the lungs are weaker than usual, the liver operates in a state of excess and many phenomena related to excess histamine activity may appear, such as: watery eyes, itching of the skin (including atopic dermatitis / skin asthma), chronic runny nose and more.

For those suffering from red and watery eyes – press for about two minutes on two points located on the back of the head, slightly above the connection of the neck with the head, from the sides; you can feel a hollow in the spot, press with the intensity desired by the patient.
For those suffering from a chronic runny nose – it is recommended to do rinses with salt water. Although at first it burns, it is very effective. A heaping tablespoon of salt in a glass of warm water, mix and with a dropper drip into each nostril, several times.
